Help Creating new icons on desktop page -Android 4.4.2

I've just purchased a new ASUS memo pad 7 loaded with Android 4.4.2 Try though I have I cannot find a way to create a new icon on the front desktop. I mean create a new one. I know how to move pre-loaded icons from apps to the front page. But how do you go to, say, a page you regularly use and create a new icon on the desktop to load that site straightaway? Grateful for anyone who can help to offer advice. Thanks!

As you say "site" I'm assuming you want to create a browser shortcut icon to a particular web page?

In Google Chrome:

1. Navigate to the desired page in the browser.
2. Select Menu (the "three dots" symbol in the top-right corner of the nav bar) and choose "Add to home screen".
3. Re-name as desired, then select "add".

Thank you! It works!! I never use Chrome but will do now for this purpose. Great!!!
