creating shortcuts/folders

I'm finding the new 4.0 upgrade to be much less intuitive than the predecessor. I have searched but can't figure out how to create shortcuts like navigation directions with 4.0. Used to be simple to long press on an open spot to do all these things. I want to create a bunch of navigation shortcuts to locations and store them in a folder. Unable to proceed. Thanks.

If I understand your question right, you just put one icon on top of the other and it automatically creates the folder (This I know on the desktop but pretty sure it's the same in the drawer). I actually accidently found out :P

Thanks but can you tell me how to create a navigation/directions shortcut? Then I can put them on top of each other to create a folder. Thanks.

That no longer works after the 4.0 update

Tried it with 4.03 and 4.04

But may be a Sense thing on my HTC phone.

My other way is Settings, Personalize, Add to home, Shortcut, Directions & Navigate ...

Go into your apps listing. Find the app you want and long press the app itself. When you do it will attach itself to your finger and you can drag it to the spot you want it on your home screen.

Its not an app, its a shortcut I need to create that starts navigating me to a location when I press it. Easy to do with last android version.

Thats exactly how It is on my EVO 4G LTE

If anyone knows how to create this shortcut with a Droid4, let me know. I found a review of 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on phonedog.com, which read, in part:

"another part of Ice Cream Sandwich that makes no sense at all to me is the new placement of widgets. Instead of long pressing on the home screen to add widgets (that only brings up the wallpaper changing menu now), you must open the app drawer, click on the Widget tab, find the widget you desire, long press and drop it where you want it on the home screen."

This is how my Droid4 works. Long press only opens up wallpaper changing menu.
