cross platform instant messaging apps?

Can anyone advise on the most stable and reliable instant messaging app across Android, blackberry and iPhone?

eg. pingchat......googletalk...etc.

Many thanks in advance

I use Whatsapp its used across all the major platforms! You get free txts, free videos, free pic messages, free voice messages and soon you'll be able 2 transfer music files aswell. Only downside to this app is that you have to register your number so it picks up who has Whatsapp on your contact list. Its the only way for it to work you cant make up IDs or add random people.

Have had Whatsapp for about a year (incluing beta testing)

No price charged yet.

Is far superior to Ping as ping uses push messages. Which andriod phones don't have.

I gotta question though...why bother with the cross platform messengers?

why not just use something like ebuddy or other msn/yahoo/email client? I mean then you have total cross platform then
