Help CSC unknown & Kies will not recognise device?

monijoshi

Lurker
Hi,

I recently tried to update the firmware on my new galaxy S2 as apparently the firmware was set for some Middle Eastern country (I am in Australia). I followed the instructions with downloading the new firmware, Oden & trying to reconnect via Kies - but Kies will no longer recognise the device.
I dialed *#1234# and it now says:

PDA I9100XWLSH
PHONE I9100XXLS9
CSC UNKNOWN

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thank you

Hello and welcome to Android Forums monijoshi! :)

By installing a firmware other than that intended for your phone you will no longer be able to update via Kies or OTA, (Over The Air), see the disclaimer in #1.7 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide.

Loss of the CSC code can occur if you are flashing a stock firmware out side of the original region... i.e. Middle East to Australasia. The good news is that you are now updated to the latest Australian firmware. Future updates, if any, will have to be done via Odin.
