Curved screen: pros and cons?

I am considering getting an s7 edge, now that the s8 is about to come out and the s7 prices are coming down.

My main reservation is the curved screen. Friends who have it swear by it, but I looked at it in a store and wasn't entirely convinced. I had the impression that the curved edges were almost 'chopping off' parts of the screen when loading some web pages.

What is your experience? Would you recommend a curved screen? Thanks!

I like the curved screen. It comes in handy for my family contacts, sports updates, etc. It's just a quicker way to get to your every day apps.:p

The Mrs. has an S7E and loves it. She'a not a heavy surfer, but I haven't noticed any significant screen chopping going on. I think it looks cool, but a tad gimmicky. I also think it provides extra opportunity for accidents and increases the cost of repair, but Samsung has sold a boatload of them, so I guess there's something to it. :)

I had the curved Edge screen with a Note7 I had for a few weeks last year. Didn't really care for it much when watching full screen videos in landscape horizontal mode, with the way the image curved away at top and bottom, reminded me of an old fashioned CRT somewhat. The phone I replaced it with has a completely flat AMOLED screen, which I definitely prefer.

Vivo Xplay 6 has a similarly curved screen as well, and that was one factor which decided against me considering that device, after the Note7 was recalled.
