Custom chat app for colors? - Galaxy Nexus

I use my phone a fair bit for chat. When I look at my power usage, most of it is the screen. I would like to change the colors on the chat window. A black background with yellow letters should save a lot of power and be easier on the eyes. Plus the blue suggested words are hard to see. I would like to alter the colors for every screen.

Is there an app that would do this?

SMS text messages. But I would like to alter every screen so that it uses as little energy as possible.

Oh ok, I wasn't sure if you were talking about AIM/ MSN type stuff. Have you tried different themes for Handcent SMS? If you haven't heard of Handcent, it's one of two programs that most people choose to replace the stock app. The other one is I think called GoSMS, but I'm not positive.

Handcent comes with some nice dark themes. The one I use is like an iPhone UI, but with a black background. You can download other themes and I guess make one yourself (though I don't know how to accomplish that).

Edit: You pick the skin, then choose light or dark theme. I choose dark for the black background.

I use GoSMS and use the "ICS Theme", which I think fits in very nicely with the rest of my phone. I keep it with a black background with the ICS blue text, and you can customize it a whole lot to your specifications. I've used both Handcent and GoSMS, but I prefer GoSMS.
