Custom Fields in Contacts for Droid X

The custom fields that I have entered on my computer do not appear on my phone. Is there a way to make that happen?

My guess is that it depends on the field chosen. The fields in Gmail have to be somehow mapped to fields in the phones contact list. I'm not sure how that mapping is established...
