Help Custom icon link

I have a text file that I would like to be able to have executed and display with one click is there a way to do this ?

I did this on my HTC Desire (Android 2.2) running ES File Manager, navigating to the text file, long-pressing it and selecting Shortcut. This put an icon on the first piece of blank space on my Home screen, starting from the leftmost screen.

There are probably other ways of doing this.
