Root Custom Kernel over stock rom??

Sorry, I don't have time to shuffle through the forums. Can I flash a custom kernel over stock rooted rom and be okay? Thanks, gotta help a co-worker.

AFAIK you can, BUT I would make a back up first with ROM Manager or through your recovery before doing it incase there is something with the kernel the phone doesn't like. Also you know you can overclock t \he stock ROM to 800mhz with out flashing a new kernel.
