Help Custom notification tone / sms tone sound is low!

Hi all,

I have a Samsung Galaxy Mini running on Android Froyo 2.2. My problem is when I set an mp3 file as custom notification tone / SMS tone, the tone is played in very low sound even though my volume is all the way up.

But when I play it using the Music app, it sounds normal and quite nice.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Can anyone help me?

What I do to set my custom tone is to create a folder called "Notification" in media->audio in myfiles.

I am not sure if this is Android specific or Hardware specific. But my aunt who owns a Galaxy 551 which also runs in Android experiences the same problem.

Thank you!

Yeah, I forgot to add that for Custom Call Ringtones, the sound is normal sounding. The sound only gets low for custom notification / SMS sounds.

If you solve it, please share how you solved it!

Thank you!

have the same problem here...

i tried to edit the mp3 file using the sound editing software. Amplify the the magnitude and use it as a notification ringtone. it produced a louder sound but the quality was poor. Maybe i amplified it too much. i amplified it about 14 db. Still havent tried to reduce the amplification.

I wonder if there is any way to increase the volume from the device itself.

I have the same problem with my galaxy fit. It seems that this problem persists on the galaxy mini, so, if there is an admin that can helps us with the low quality sms ringtone i think that we all are going to be thankfull.
One more thing, i discovered that in the settings/sound/volume - there is no such thing as sms volume bar, maybe that is a problem, and maybe it can be solved with an update from the product company.

Thanks in advance

i've tried to amplify the sound file with 3dB factor. It sounds just loud enough for me =)

I guess there isn't any way to increase the volume from Galaxy Mini.

how did u do that?

i edited the sound file on my pc and transferred it to my microsd =)
you can use any sound-editing software.

Hi all
did you check this menu???
setting> sound> volume?????
you can increase your notification sound there, instead of volume key.

it doesn't solve the problem though...still not loud enough if you use custom notification tone

Yup same here, I've got a Galaxy 551 and the sound problem is for that too, but for SMS only and I used the specific notification volume in settings and that does very little in relation to custom tones :/

same problem here with Samsung Galaxy Ace... too low volume on custom notification and ringtone.

still no way or MOD on this kind of problem?

Same problem with the Stratosphere. I don't have a custom notification sound but all the pre-loaded notification sounds are too quiet.

@syxchk
I have a LG Ignite w/ Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. I have been reading and found a useful app. Go to the Android Market and search "Rings Extended". It is a basic application that implements to your regular sound settings. Worth a shot.

Rings Extended
-Replaces the standard ringtone picker with a new one that makes it easy to select from installed music tracks & other sounds. Just go to Settings or an application's settings for a ringtone and you will be prompted to use Rings Extended.
