Root custom recovery

where do a find a custom recovery for 4.1? i am trying to flash the 4.2 update from the asus website because im not getting the update over the air.

thanks

You can find what you're looking for over at XDA. Be careful when flashing because if you flash the wrong recovery after you've updated to 4.2 you will brick you tablet. Just some food for thought, as far as I can tell there are only 2 custom ROMS that work for with the update. The Energy ROM and CLEANROM. Neither have an overclocked kernel yet either because Asus has not released source yet.

Personally, I'm sticking with 4.1 for now.

Read everything you can get your hands on before proceeding. That's the best advice I can give you.

I personally recommend TWRP's as I have always used their recoveries on all my devices including the TF300T. Here is the link TeamWin Projects - TWRP 2.4 - Asus Transformer TF300T(G) | TeamWin

Make sure you read the page thoroughly and choose the correct version for your device. I would suggest the adb flash method rather than terminal one. If you don't know how to use adb then either read up on it, either here or on XDA forum, or don't try to flash; I am only saying this for your benefit. ;)

Actually, TWRP is the only recovery that will even work with the 4.2 update.

As for CWM and 4.1, I wouldn't recommend it. I tried CWM when I 1st modded my tablet and had some serious issues with it.

TWRP is def the way to go if you decide to stick with 4.1. If you decide to go ahead and upgrade, TWRP is your only choice.

Also, I would go with the FASTBOOT flash method.
