Root Custom Recovery?

akito6776

Hi all,

Has anyone tried flashing a custom recovery to the zte awe yet? For example, does CWM, TWRP, etc work on it?

I've got it rooted and want to install the xposed framework onto it but I don't want to install it and risk getting into a bootloop without a nandroid backup/recovery process. I know I can make nandroid backups with apps like OBackup, but I'm pretty sure that a custom recovery is required to restore from a nandroid backup. Please correct me if I've wrong.

Thoughts?

Welcome to Android Forums akito.:)

I moved this into the All Things Root subforum to get some better eyes on it.

I'm, quite honestly, afraid to try to get a custom recovery working on my Awe. I mean, I would if I had a spare, but this is the phone I only have right now so...no.

Don't worry about the Xposed Framework bricking your phone. I've installed it with little issue.

It's if you want to customize the UI is where you'll run into slight problems. For me, the notification bar would disappear, only to reappear in a few seconds (I've got it somewhat customized with transparency and to try to mimic the KitKat UI.

You can try Flash Gordon to flash small zips that are NOT roms/kernels. Link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250555

the boot loaders isnt locked on this phone? last phone I had (kyocera event) the boot loader was locked lol.

Bootloader is locked, or seems like it. BUT, you can get Clockworkod Recovery on it now! :D

I'm pretty sure the bootloader is unlocked, as I have been using fastboot commands the past few days. What few it has, work.

"fastboot flash partition image.img" doesn't work, and I'm not sure why. Sits on 'installing...' without doing anything.

"fastboot boot image.img" works.

"fastboot boot kernel" does not, probably for similar reasons as why the flash command fails.
