Help Custom Ringtone

I've got a folder structure on my SD card that is:

| media
| - audio
| - - notifications
| - - - sms-tone.mp3
| - - ringtones
| - - - custom-ring.mp3

But they don't show up when I try to select a track for my sounds. I've also tried putting them in my "music" folder, but the tracks still don't appear. What am I doing wrong?

The phone "thinks" that they are song files, not ringtones. To save me typing a really long paragraph on why, here is what I did.

I downloaded the Ringdroid app, found the song I wanted as a ring tone, edited it (if you want to choose a certain clip of a song), then SAVE it as a ringtone. Now you can choose it as a ringtone. Same thing goes for notification tones (text message tones)

Best.
