Custom Ringtones

Hello, I have powered off about a dozen times. I am no longer hooked to my laptop. I can see the files with my file manager on my phone. I have tried deleting, pasting, moving them to different places, moving them back to the original folder. As you can see from my screenshots they are in a Notifications or/and a Ringtones folder. I'm at my wits end. Thanks so much for your reply!

With a computer in the equation it gets very obscure. I tried to understand your problem. In the process I can demonstrate the obscurity.

I am using File Manager HD on the Maxx and Windows 7 file manager on my workstation.

I have a directory /tlanet
I added a subdirectory /tlanet/notifications
I added a file /tlanet/notifications/tla-notification.mp3
I went to Settings | Sound | Default notification sound and it is present
I deleted the file
I went to Settings | Sound | Default notification sound and it is not present

I created a new subdirectory and file of /tlanet/notificationstemp/tla-notification.mp3
I renamed it to /tlanet/notifications-temp/tla-notification.mp3
I copied another file as /tlanet/notifications-temp/tla-notification2.mp3

So ... at this point ...
The two files are correctly not visible in Settings | Sound | Default notification sound
There is one folder with two files

I connected for the very FIRST TIME to Windows with a USB cable
It showed ...
/tlanet/notificationtemp with one file
/tlanet/notification-temp with two files

I disconnected the USB cable and rebooted (power off/power on) the Maxx

I connected the USB cable and looked at checked with Windows.
It showed ...
/tlanet/notifications-temp with two files

This is simply spooky.

It looks like some tables on the Maxx are not being refreshed until the Maxx is re-booted.
It looks like this is hidden on the Maxx.
It looks like it is not hidden on Windows.
