Root Custom rom for Samsung admire-Overclocking necessary.

Hi guys! I want a custom rom for my Samsung Admire SCH R720 V2.3.6.

I wanna ask this also:

Can I install a custom rom without it deleteing any data?

And I need this rom to:

Please not brick my phone
Come with instructions and how to do it
Verification that it works
Able to overclock more than 800 MhZ
Have a nice look.-- OPTIONAL.

I wanted to know if the Monster 5.3 or Admiral Beast is good and if it wont brick my phone, and where to find instructions and download..

It's recommended to wipe data so you don't run into errors with the rom you're gonna install so if you wanna keep your data just make a backup in cwm and then advanced restore data after you install your rom.

First you need this version of cwm to install overclocked roms : https://www.dropbox.com/s/1qthz7fip639v5g/CM72RC1-Beta1-KernelCWM-requisite0.zip . Just install this zip in cwm and then reboot recovery.

Also anytime you flash a rom there's a chance you can brick your phone especially if you don't know what you're doing but as long as it's a soft brick meaning you can into recovery or use odin then you can always unbrick your phone.

And if you've never flashed an overclocked rom before there's no guarantee your phone can handle it. If your phone gets stuck at the boot screen or starts vibrating a lot during boot then most likely your phone can't handle the oc kernel.

In terms of a nice look there are themes for some of these roms. And the instructions and download links are in the threads.
 
First is to do a backup of your stock 2.3.6 in cwm recovery , reaspn for this is because if anything goes bad you can always fall back on the backup that you made, and also so that you can flash a rom and restore your data that you lost.. (backup and restore - advanced restore-data) ...

make the backup first with CWM and when restoring a backup use the version of CWM you use when you made the backup. if you try a backup made with CWM 5.0.2.7 on CWM 5.0.2.8 it will fail and vice versa. Kage and Killah covered everything else lol and yes a bricking will occurs if you flash wrong but thays why you make a backup!!! OOHH YEAAHH!!!
 
That was absofreaking beautiful the way the answers came out.....love it....however the list of rom builds far exceeds that of the list provided.
Do a google search for samsung admire roms and have a glance at what you find. there are a bunch of roms and themes out there for this phone and although they may not all be found at this site it needs to be known. There are misfit toys everywhere that can help you locate things or answers questuons if needed....but that was made very clear by the previous posters.....hope this helps and answers a few things.

This site is the main forums for all Admire users. they all come here and all the roms that have been made for the Admire are here except the work from ABCindicate.

thats not completely true. there are a bunch of abc stuff on af. its just not mentioned as often when someone says hey i need a rom. everyone wants to bitch about them but they do have several roms that are great. several good. some crap ones to but they have some stuff thats totally new that flies that nobody mentions. just trying to be fair. im a mini fan but thats know.
 
i dont hate them or anything, i was even around when it all went down. i was friends with a few of them but their roms arent my style. its just better not to talk about why they got banned, talk about the roms is fair game though.

I actually liked a couple of their roms. PUTU 2.2 was the one i used the most. I just didn't like their choice of apps

ya ya some of the apps were a bit off for my tazte. i do tje mini so i mix and match framework and ui such and what not so i get what we like to call a misfit.lmao.thus born of the land of misfit toys. but holy crap was that Singularity Rom a piece of crap or what!!!!!!!!
 
I have Open android Build 2.3-EXT4 Android ver 2.3.6 and CWM 5.0.2.8
Were can I download with instructions on how to upgrade??
