Help Custom Rom Question

Hello Everyone,
I am looking into custom roms, but I wanted to know if a rom is made for an S5 for example but doesn´t specify the variant, does that matter? As long as its for the model of phone you have everything should be OK right?

Unless it specifies it's for that variant, I wouldn't flash it.

There are a couple of different hardware variants of the S5 so flashing a ROM designed for the wrong model could brick it.

Which variant do you have and which ROM?

Hi..oh wow, I had no idea..the S5 was just an example. This would be for a LG G3 beat (D724). :)

Yeah, the same goes for LG devices.

Whilst differences between devices may be subtle, you still shouldn't flash something meant for one device on to another.

For example, there is a ROM for the International LG G4 (H815) which will flash and boot on the T-Mobile version (H811), but the devs don't recommend running it for any length of time as there's enough subtle differences for it to do damage if used for any sustained period of time.

oh, so even if it does work, running it for a certain amount of time will still brick your phone?
