Root Custom ROMS - to try or not to try?

Have anyone tested custom ROMS for G3? Like CM, SlimKat or Paranoid?
Did you notice any improvements in performance, battery life or stability?

I still experience random freezes if screen turns off while apps are running. Battery life is not what I expected either. And I seems to dangerously close to my 2GB of ram on several occasions. Could a custom ROM address these issues?

I have never used custom roms for anything but old phones before, and by the time I have flashed them phones have been rather old so I would not worry about bricking it. The advantages of running a slimmer and faster rom and to add to the lifespan of the phone has been the reason to try out custom roms. I am a little reluctant to flash a brand new phone, but if others have good experience with any of those ROMS and can tell me if a custom ROM enhanced the user experience I might check it out.

What would I loose by ditching stock LG G3 rom for a custom ROM?

Sure, try them. But keep some things in mind. ALWAYS make a nandroid backup of a working configuration, first. Then you can always go back.

Use Titanium Backup or Helium to backup all your app (not system) data. Makes getting back to a usable state a lot faster.

Read the thread(s) on the rom you want to try thoroughly. Then read the last few pages again. Understand the potential and actual issues before you flash.

ConsiderConsider stock-based ROMs, not just AOSP. The can offer noticeably better performance and battery life without making you give up the benefits of the G3.
