Custom SMS ring tone setting

Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to give different people a custom SMS ring tone. for some reason, they are all coming up with the song that I used for one particular contact.

How do I give Mary her own SMS notification tone. ?

I'm using Go SMS if that helps.

I don't use Go apps anymore, and I cannot recall how to set the custom ringtones. I'm sure someone using the app will chime in with some instructions.
 
It's somewhere in the settings listed as 'individual settings' or something like it. Can't be more specific since i ditched Go products ages ago. I'm using Handcent now for SMS.
 
i have the pro so they are already there. My biggest issues is getting different ring tones for the messages.

I want my galaxy people and my iPhone people to be able to see them.
I don't want to have to ask the galaxy people to download a program to see my messages if possible. Right now the other person can see them but I don't know what program they are running to see it.
 
Oh wait, did you mean Handcent when you said "handset"? Handcent isn't a typo. It's the name of the SMS app I use. And yes it does have an emoji pack which people using emoji enabled devices can also see, whether they are using iPhones or Androids. And yes Handcent and Go SMS both have the ability to set custom ringtones for individual contacts.
 
I set unique ring tones in the OEM contact app. There is a "ringtone" setting. I also use GoSMS and it uses the ringtone I choose in the contacts setting.
 
yes, I have a setting for it.I have gone there. It's not staying on the choice I choose for that person.

Everyone is coming in a the same SMS tone and I don't want that.
 
okay so why am I being led to other apps when the phone as it is should do this itself? right? how come they are not staying with whom I set them for?
 
Sounds like the app isn't saving that setting. The only thing I can think of to do would be to reset the data and cache for GO SMS. If there's a folder for the app, delete that first... then reset the data and cache.

You'll lose all of the settings for Go SMS, but if there's a corrupt file for it then deleting the folder and resetting the app should essentially fix it.
 
I would do all of that except I have no clue where the file is on the phone in a folder. I do not even know I had folders on my phone for files.
 
Download ES File Explorer. Open it up and you'll see a folder on your internal SD called GOSMS. Longpress on that folder and you'll see a tiny garbage can.. delete the folder.

Then go into your phones Settings > Apps > Downloaded and locate Go SPS Pro. Tap on it to open and then tap on Clear Cache and then tap on Clear Data.

Just reiterating; this will reset Go SMS to default settings.

okay. I did that.I'll see if it has changed but I'll have to wait until someone texts me to see if this worked.Thank you
