Help Customising appearance of the drop down/pull down bar

Hi, I have a Samsung A5 - is there any way to customise the way the drop down/pull down bar looks (not the settings or icons on it, but the actual appearance). I've tried different launchers and themes, where all the rest changes, except this bar. I've read about a way where you first have to make sure the phone is rooted, but I'm a bit hesitant to fiddle too much with things like that.

Are there any launchers/settings/apps that can actually customise the way the drop down menu looks, even if it only changes the colour? The custom blue one really isn't nice!

Nah afaik that requires root and either a custom rom that supports customisation or themes, or Xposed Framework.
A custom launcher can only change homescreens and app drawer
