When does customizing become over-customization? I am using GOSMS for texting; but there is also GOLaucher out there which looks appealing...but wouldn't that change the entire feel of the phone? Is that potentially bad for the stock OS? I am new to all of this and looking to understand the "android culture". What basic tips should I consider? Thank you, Clementines

If you don't root your phone you won't "damage" your stock os. You can always go back to the phones stock launcher. The main benefit of Android is that you can customise it as much as you like. Have a search on "launcher" in playstore and you will see there is a lot of choice. Some image other phone os appearances and some are really different eg splay. I like holo hd but it's just my preference - there is no best, just what you prefer. Also look at swipepad, gravity screen and button saviour for a few ideas. .
