Cut the Rope out 6/24

It's a well polished entertaining game unfortunately it appears to be a GetJar exclusive. Ah well, worth the download none the less.

I'm sure it'll be released in the android market soon but if u can't wait then this is the alternative. At least u don't have to make an account just to download it from getjar.

I was going to make post but you beat me to it. Competion is great as long as it helps the users. Getjar huh I didn't know they was in the android business. Nice exclussive and its free. Gameplay is awesome as ever a lot of boxes I've never done so I'm happy to have.

Why do devs make these things exclusives to app stores that no one has ever heard of?

good question. Promotion? Why build up a brand for just a single app name, when you can build up the name of a whole store? That way when you sell other things on that store, you'll make more money overall.

Hard to say, I bet someone else can chime in..

This is the same appstore that Angry Birds first released on....two pretty big games so far and I am sure more will come...maybe it will become a more widely used store...hope not tho too many already

Downloaded fine to my Desire but can't get it downloaded to my son's Archos 70. Any thoughts please?

If we just download an .apk from getjar to install, how do we update it later on? We'd have to go back to getjar occasionally to check for updates? That's kind of a pain.

Let's be honest here. The majority of Android users have never heard of getjar. If they see Cut the Rope on iOS and want it, they'll check the Market. They won't find it there. The majority of them are going to think that it simply doesn't exist on Android. Some of those people may go to the Amazon App store 'cuz Amazon is a big name and has a lot of clout. They won't find it there either. 99.9% of Android users will never look any further than those two.

Be completely honest now. Outside of the Market and the Amazon Appstore, how much time do you spend looking for apps? How many apps have you bought/downloaded from someplace other than those two sources?

Totally agree. Its beginning to look like the Android app ecosystem itself is suffering from fragmentation. I hope it doesn't get too out of control.

It is a pain...I wish this dev would have at least added a builtin update checker within the app.

Well, prior to a month ago, how many people where getting apps from Amazon Appstore?

Shows you that another store can gain market share on Android. Sure getjar is no Amazon, but that doesn't mean that they can't be somewhat successful. A Cut the Rope exclusive surely will help them, at least in the short term.

I disagree just because they don't have the clout at all. If no one knows about your app, no one is going to download it. The average Android user is going to have no clue that it's an exclusive to GetJar. The average Android user who came from iOS probably has no clue who the developer is. I don't. So they're not following the dev on twitter or Facebook or wherever. They have no clue the app is even out.

Side note - Does anyone have any clue why this app wants permission to read my contacts? I see no feature in the game that lets me email my progress to anyone and I see no social network integration other than letting me follow the dev on the various social sites. Can anyone tell me why this app needs to read my contacts? Seems fishy to me.

It uses scoreloop. There's an icon on the front page of the app.

For about three hours before the amount of people trying to download it completely overloaded their servers and it was an unusable mess. Then Rovio put it on the Android Market.

I'd imagine we see it on the Android Market soon.

Game takes a ridiculously long time to load on my Galaxy Tab. It literally takes 2-3 minutes for the progress bar to fill up. Then when I go to load different boxes, it's approximately a minute a box or more. I'm looking at 5 minutes from the time I launch the app to the time I can actually play. It's killing me.

High quality, polished game. No problems running on my weak htc hero. No lag, except maybe at the boxcutting part (maybe its supposed to cut slowly). Everything else silky smooth.

Who cares where the app is first released. Its just a matter of time before it arrives at the market. Its just some people can get it earlier than others if they bother to search for the game. Its a painless process, took me like 2 minutes to get the game on my phone.
