CWM blue font NOOB!

I'm trying to flash a rom and keep getting stuck into the fastboot (blue screen). I searched around but couldn't find my answer :(

Phone: Captivate 0168(code behind battery)
Factory Upgraded 2.2

I don't have 3 button combo. I've tried flashing the 3 button fix but i can't do that either.

I flashed CWM, dragged the .zip for the rom over to the /sd, rebooted into recovery and it goes straight to the blue font screen. I've tried to reinstall packages and it fails so i just hit reboot. I'm stuck and am sick of doing hours of research so if anyone can point me in the direction of how i can just flash a rom on here :) no flaming please!

I believe you need to use Odin to restore the phone to stock before you can install CWM.

i would love to do that but i can't get it into download mode. That's my main issue. If i can get it into download mode i know what to do from there. i've tried using a jig, 3 button fix, everything except sdk cause it's confusing to me :(

I am sensing that you have tried all of these things, but it might be worth a shot-- Have you taken the battery out, held down the volume up and down at the same time, and then inserted the USB cable?

To answer your question, go back into rom manager and flash clockwork recovery, it will place a file called update.zip on the internal sdcard, do not touch that file. Then reboot into recovery, and you will see the blue screen. Select reinstall packages, this will load the update.zip from clockwork so you can flash.

However if something goes wrong, since you cannot enter download mode, you will brick your phone (I did). Now you can get download mode easy.

Turn on USB debugging on your phone. Then Download super one clck root over a XDA. Once it downloads, do not use it because you only need adb from it. Now one the command prompt (on your PC select start, run and type cmd). In the command prompt navigate to the older where SOC is located an type
Code:
adb reboot download
This will put the phone in download mode.

Now I know you said you have tried everything, but that will get you into download mode so you can flash the following. Now to restore the 3button, flash these files:ENDED {Stock Rom} Odin JF6 with 3 button fix - xda-developers

ok so,

1)try cwm recovery, reboot into recovery, reinstall then i can flash from sd?
2) if that doesn't work, intentionally softbrick it and use a jig?
3) super one click, do not root?, cmd prompt and type in
Code:
adb reboot download
?

i ask the questions on 3 because i read up on sdk manager and it said i had to do a lot more than just plug in and type adb reboot download... if you could find a dummy proof walkthrough or help me out in detail or tell me how to intentionally softbrick so i can jig it into dl mode that'd be great. thanks for the responses.

ok, so i tried the SOC method.... is this correct?

C:\users\kyle>downloads>SOC>adb reboot download?

doesn't recognize device... that was with usb debug on and all i did was unzip SOC didn't open it and typed that into cmd. i'm warning you ahead of time i'm a SUPER N00B when it comes to cmd prompt junks so if someone could please just detail things out for me instead of just assuming i know things.

finally figured it out. Changed directory to adb reboot download but i had to unplug the usb before launching odin :/ finally got cognition on here thanks for the help everyone!

I'm very surprise the jig didn't work. I have one here and although I've not had to use it, it's awfully convenient and nice piece-of-mind should an emergency ever come up.

it wasn't the jig that was the problem. i was not soft bricked and was trying to do ******ed things basically. i finally got cwm to hold on the recovery and flashed phoenix 7.3. BTW great rom! i highly recommend it! i9000 rom 2.2.1 based speedmod kernel gingerbread themed % battery everything. swype is now an issue i have to reinstall from swype everytime i reboot :( but everything else seems stable.

i think how i fixed my issue was to ADB reboot download in CMD, reflash stock 2.1 (of course backing everything up first), install CWM, flash, recovery, reinstall packages twice, install from zip etc...

BTW, i somehow got stuck in a bootloop on the recovery screen and used my homemade jig from there and that worked perfectly to flash 2.1....again.... oh well it's fixed now. thanks for your help everyone.
