Root Cyanogen 7.1

goatt

Newbie
I'm trying to go from CommRom to Cyanogen 7.1 and I've had good success. However I have no google apps, no market, no nothing. I've installed and flashed the gapps, but they don't show up in the app drawer. I've wiped davlik, cache, data etc. but with no luck.

I know that when I bought the phone there was some Google setup that didn't happen this time despite seemingly wiping everything. Maybe that's the issue?

Did you enter the CWM by holding the up and down volume and power buttons to install Gapps?

If so, that is why it is not working. Once you install CM7 you cannot use the regular CWM via the three finger method. The only way to enter the CWM to install Gapps is to hold the power button, select reboot, and then select recovery. Then install Gapps from there and you should work.

There is now a CWM that is fixed for CM7 and the 3 finger works.

to the OP, try a different version of Gapps. There are plenty floating around.
