I still don't see RC1 and am not sure I want to try a nightly... any news on when it will be out? Some of these features REALLY look nice...
Funny you say you want to try CyanogenMod today as I just installed Enomther today. That's the ROM you us right?

I was on Enomther for a while, then went to a "Stock" ROM and am thinking about trying out Cyanogen 6.1 RC1.
My biggest issue with Cyanogen is the slow updates for the N1 and slow fixes (other than going to nightly builds).
I'm still on the fence though. Luckily for Nandroid, it's not too hard to swap around ROM's.

Give it a go I say, some pretty impressive features coming out recently.
6.1 will still be ahead of a lot of other ROMs for a while.

Nightlies are the way to go. You get the new features as they become available! On the rare occasion a Nightly breaks something then rolling back to your previous ROM is only a click away with included Clockwork RomManager.

On a related note, is the DarkTremor App2Ext app easy to use?
I've partitioned my SD card using the instructions you posted in another thread on Android Forums however I've not used DarkTremors's App2Ext yet.
Would you do a quick user guide/tutorial? I'm sure others would find it useful too.

But to answer your question, yeah, it's not hard to use at all, as long as you know how to use ADB or have a Terminal Emulator installed. Personally, I use the ADB method as the Term Emu method does not always initiate the commands... Dunno why...

Ok, sorry for the lateness...
I have found that using DarkTremor's A2SD Script for App2EXT on CM Nightly's is really easy, not so much trouble and just smooth without so much hard work.
Ok, this is really quick and easy.
ASSUMPTIONS
1. You have rooted your N1 (there are plenty of guides out there for this, so I won't go into those details).
2. You have installed a Custom Recovery (Amon_RA or Clockwork (easy via ROM Manager))
3. NANDROID BACKUP
Steps:
1. Backup your SD Card, I mean EVERYTHING that you want to keep, back it up.
2. Reboot into Recovery
a. If you have not done a Nandroid Backup, do it now
3. Partition your SD Card using RA or Clockwork Recovery with the following in mind THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE SD CARD (the reason for step 1):
a. For the Nexus One, you do NOT need a Swap Partition, so set that to 0
b. Personally, I use a 512MB ext partition, but I (personally) won't go more than 1024 MB (1GB).
c. Remember that when you create the ext partition, it will be ext2, remember to upgrade it to ext3. I would NOT suggest ext4 UNLESS you know what you are doing and the ROM explicitly states that it is supported!!
4. Use the USB Support in the Recovery (or ADB) to put your ROM .zip files onto your SD Card.
5. Wipe all data to prepare for flashing (User Data/Cache/Dalvik Cache/ext part/Battery/anything else).
6. Flash your ROM
a. If you are flashing Cyanogen, remember to flash the GAPPS .zip as well
7. Flash the DT A2SD Addon
8. Reboot
Set up your phone as normal once you boot up. Let everything sync. On boot up, the a2sd scripts will see the ext3 part and auto-install everything there, so no more work to do from here.
The only additional thing I do is move my Dalvik-Cache to SD.
To do this:
1. adb shell
2. su
3. a2sd cachesdreset
This will move it and reboot your phone.
I don't suggest moving to /cache part since it is only 90MB and can cause instability if you do a lot of data on your phone.
Sorry for the scribble tut, but at work and have work things to do...

It's an updated version of DT apps2SD especially for the CyanogenMod nightlys
Am I right in thinking that it just doesn't wipe the ext3 partition of your SD card when you flash the new ROM over the top of the previous one?

I have been messing with the latest nightly for CM and so far, I have to say that it REALLY has come a LOOOONG way from 6.0 stable. I like it so far and some stuff I tried to use on "Stock" now works without issue (Mainly WidgetLocker Lockscreen).
I'll have to look into that, although, it seems that what it is implying.

I am going to update to a new nightly build here soon and will let you know what I find. After reading more, flashing over the top of a current ROM should NOT wipe ext apps, however, the script linked above states that it will keep the Dalvik-Cache on SD of that is where you have it, so you will want to flash ROM, then flash that modded DT Script, then reboot.
