Root CyanogenMod CM7 stable release

The stable release of Cyanogen's Mod, CM7 (Gingerbread) has been released today, 11th April.

Have been trying it out and no problems so far.

Lots of extra goodies have been added to Cyanogen's Mod. Such as some neat tablet features that work on phones, I particularly like the option to move the Status Bar to the bottom of the screen.

IMHO, Cyanogen has done a great job on this for the Nexus One and is the culmination of months of hard work to bring this enhanced version of 2.3.3 to us and I have today made another donation to help Cyanogen, and thank him (and the team), for his efforts.

Download via ROM Manager or from here:-

UPDATE

If you are flashing CM7 for the first time, or coming from CM6, you should select the Google app's download as well, if you are using ROM Manager. If not, then download and install the latest Google app's, compatible with CM7, from here:-

I'm a little on the fence about this release. Is the "call wonkiness" a major issue? It looks like it basically prevents you from getting phone calls, which is a pretty big deal in my opinion. Has anyone experienced this a lot? If it happens once in a blue moon then it's not a big deal, but if it's happening like multiple times a day I may have to wait..

It only affects some N1's while others are completely unaffected. But if an N1 is susceptible then it tends to be affected very often. Cyanogen's N1 doesn't suffer from the wonk, so he's been working blind. Recent CM7 builds have reduced the severity of the wonk, and the dewonkifier app seems to help even more though it's just a workaround and not a fix. You'll just have to try CM7 and see if it works for you on your phone. I've been running release candidates for a few weeks now and have never seen a wonk, others get the wonk nearly every time they receive a call. There's some evidence that the wonk may be related to SD card issues (some guys have had it go away after swapping SD cards), others with the wonk have had it disappear and return from repeatedly flashing the same version of CM7, which makes it sound like a NAND problem. Nobody really knows.

My N1 hasn't had a problem with the wonk; I sometimes get a 2-3 sec delay when answering a call, but that is a gingerbread issue and not a CM7 issue (it happened with stock 2.3.3 as well).

What do you mean? Like it won't let you answer for 2-3 seconds or you can't talk/hear for 2-3 seconds?

Sheesh. 5-10 minutes this time. ;)

To jump from RC4 to Cyanogen 7 Stable.......

Do i need to download the ROM onto SD, Backup content, Wipe and then flash through Amon Ra ? Or it can be just flashed from ROM manager through clockwork mod?

Personally, as you've already done all your wipes for RC4, I would...

1. Use ClockworkMad's ROM Manager to "Download ROM" > "CyanogenMod" > "CyanogenMod 7.0.0 Stable release".

2. When the download is finished you will get a pop-up box asking if you want to Back-up (tick this) and if you want to wipe Dalvik and cache (I left this un-ticked).

3. You can proceed with the install by pressing "OK". Takes about 5 minutes, or less normally.

Make sure that your phone is fully charged or on charge.

Good luck! :D

I went from RC4 myself, I just flashed through rom manager. I made a backup beforehand (don't trust rom manager on this), then downloaded&flashed. Forgot to check gapps so once it came back up I had to flash that and reboot again.

No wiping here. Just put on SD, booted into Amon Ra and install form card. Reboot. That's it. No muss no fuss, every widget still in place. I've never used ROM Manager.

Also, no need to flash GApps as the version hasn't changed since RC2, the first version of CM7 I flashed.

Ok Did it through Hooks method (Amon RA). Got through with a breeze.

Can some one guide me to a thread on ADW Launcher? And other customizations related to Cyanogen 7.

Just in case anyone has missed it... CyanogenMod 7.0.2.1 stable release is out.

Fixes the camcorder freeze on some of the recent Nightly's (and on v7.0.2 stable release).

All good so far. :D

Hi,

Recently I flashed my 2.2.1 N1 to cm-7.0.2.1 but it was failed (status 7) then trying to roll-back but it was stucked on the flash triangle start-up.

Well I decided to roll back to 2.1-update1 build number EPE76 but Stuck On FRF91? but again it was failed to upgrade cm mode.

Could you please help me with to upgrade step by step or from a source that you know
