Cyanogenmod CRT lock screen effect

Just learned about cyanogenmod but decided not to install it due to the number of issues people are having. but one thing i did like is the screen effect when the phone was locked. is there an app that can do this on a rooted phone? if this has been discussed already, i'm sorry and if you could link me to the discussion.

Screen Off and Lock has the option but I assume it only works when you lock the phone using the app rather than the lock button.

To add to this, what I understand is, that it is an actual part of gb, put there by google but removed by most oems.

Since you are already rooted, why not just try Cyanogen? Make a nandroid backup first in case you don't like it or have issues. I used CM6 for about 6 months with no issues on my Nexus One. I waited until CM7.1 to make the jump to Gingerbread though just to be sure that the bugs were worked out. No problems so far.

^^^this. I don't know what issues the OP is referring to, but CM7 seems darn near perfect to me.

I went onto cyanogen forum for my phone (galaxy s vibrant) and saw that a lot of people had issues. i just realized that people who did not have an issue probably would not post.

so nandroid will back up my phone and if i did not like cyanogen, it will restore my phone to exactly how it was? settings and all?

Absolutely. That's the fun part about flashing roms, as long as you make a backup first, you can go ahead and try any rom you want, and if you dont like it, restore your backup.
