Cyanogenmod for a noob

Hello everyone, so this is my first post and I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea about Cyanogen mod?

I currently have Android version 4.0.3, and I wanted to root my phone to Cyanogenmod (the ICS version). But I have absoultely no idea how to do that or what Cyanogenmod version I should download (9 or what), or where I can download it from . I am also a complete noob when it comes to this kind of stuff, and I've never rooted my phone before.

The first step is to root your phone. There is a step-by-step, with video, Dummies Guide, here.

I strongly recommend that you thoroughly, and carefully, read posts #1 and #2 as they will answer all your questions regarding rooting and what to do after rooting.

As for CyanogenMod, the ICS version is CM9 and is on nightly, beta, builds.
