Root CyanogenMod for Droid 2?

Anybody know if Cyanogenmod is going to do some roms for the Droid 2? My buddy has a HTC and it is just buttery smooth and fast! I want it on my D2.
 
Supposedly there's being work done for DX for CynMod. Once that's working it can be ported to D2. If it weren't for our locked bootloader we would already have it.
