Help CyanogenMod Question

So can anyone tell me the advantages/disavantages of using this? I know you up grade your version, is it worth doing that?Also what else can you do with Cyanogen?I only went as far as checking to see if my phone was supported. Then i came here for some help/insight.
Any and all feedback would be appreciated!

The main advantage, as you say, is to get your phone on a higher Android version than is officially supported.
You also get rid of that ugly Samsung interface for a cleaner more stock android look but with a few nice added features like themes (available from Play Store), customisable statusbar, expanded desktop, ect.
Make a nandroid backup in recovery before you flash it then you can always go back if you don't like it

How far up the version "foodchain" should i go safely? I don`t want to get the latest version installed only to brick it.

I've no idea what your phone will run tbh mate but I'd say cm11 will be OK (kitkat is supposed to run well on low end devices).
As i said though, make sure you have a backup then the chances of bricking it are fairly slim

One other quick question, when i start my phone and the screen lights up with the rogers logo then the ATT logo comesa on, any way to get rid of eather one or both??

Not sure about the first one but the second boot animation you can change using this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox (make a backup first)

Please make sure you have a full backup before messing with rom toolbox.
It can easily soft brick your phone
