Root Cyanogenmod7 method?

Could someone please post a good, current link for installing Cyanogenmod7 on the Droid 2. I'm finding different methods for installing this ROM from various sites. I even found one site stating that ADB is necessary. Won't z4root work?

Please help...Thanks!

Not to step on androidforums toes or anything, i think droidforums is the best place to find droid2 info. Seems there are more D2 users on that site. But they have a link to the CM7 for D2 rom.

You download the latest CM7 [ here ]. You also need GApps [ here ].

- You must be on 2.3.20.
- Install Droid2Bootstrapper and z4root [ here ] [ here ]
- Run z4root
- Once rooted, run Droid2Bootstrapper
- Wipe data/factory default (You must use volume rocker for up/down, camera for 'select,' and power for 'back'.)
- Advanced, Wipe Dalvik, Wipe Battery stats
- Back
- Install .zip from SD card
- Install CM7 first
- Back
- Install GApps
- Back
- Reboot

So a camera/camcorder/torch fix is unnecessary?...

I'm fairly familiar with rooting, custom ROMs, etc. as I have CM7 on my Droid X. A friend of mine however has the D2 and is asking for my help. The camera/camcorder/torch fix is unfortunately necessary on the DX.

It seems the two installation processes are very similar. Of course the two smartphones are both Motorola devices...Thanks guys!

No, the fix has been included in CM7 D2 nightlies for awhile now.
