cycling app

hi all,
hey I am looking for a mountain biking app that I can run off my android phone to record distance, elevation etc (so all the normal analysis) but then I want to be able to dump the ride statistics either onto my laptop or the developers website and then be able to edit it and send it to mates, colleagues etc as an exportable file. Ive looked for this app but cannot find it out there. Anyone got any suggestions. So far I have tried Satsports, Endomondo, My tracks and sports tracker but none of them quite do what I am after.
ciao and thanks, Pete

Have you considered the Garmin cycling equipment

There are a couple of good ones. I've been using Strava and really like it. The app is designed to upload to Strava's website so you can compare your time with others that have ridden the same route.

I joined Endomondo and downloaded the app..A co-worker uses it and he is a cyclist and he loves it..records elevation, distance, calories, heart rate, and people and the phone give you pep speeches while your working out etc...I will officially start use on it monday.

Thinking of this myself. Saw a guy at work uses map-my-ride. Is that software/website not as good as the ones mentioned? I've used it to map out a ride distance/route prior to riding, but not with the app and GPS tracking that he uses. I don't have any bluetooth items, so just looking for distance, speed logging, avg spd, and maybe elevation and some calorie estimate. No cadence or heartrate data is available.

I have tried strava 3 times now and it hasn't worked properly yet. Once it recorded 11 miles of a 50 mile ride and stopped, the next two tries it wasn't running and had lost anything that it recorded when I checked it after finishing the ride. Anyone have any insight into this? I am running it on a nexus with ICS.

My wife and I use RunKeeper to track our rides. It automatically sends your track to their website and it shows you elevation, speed, distance, and other stuff.

Just throwing another app out there for you. :)

I bought a second hand android phone (wildfire s) just for strava, I had heard nothing but good comments on it. Same thing, it recorded only parts of the ride. Came home after 30 miles, and it said 10 miles 50 minutes ago. Quite frustrating.

I'm back to my old heavy nokia c6 now, with sportstracker, and that does work really nice. The site and graphs look more appealing to me. It shows recorded maps, speed, distance, elevation and energy, about everything I need for myself, not interested in sharing.

It was the only decent one available for symbian, and it's available for every platform. The old nokia doesn't lose gps signal, already sold on the wildfire.

I've been looking into this myself over the weekend. It's like a minefield out there! Many to choose from but none of them quite match my desires, or if they come close there are many reported issues.

Unfortunately, that's where I'm coming from :D I've had an Edge 605 for a few years which does the job I need it to - live data for speed, distance, etc, records the route and allows you to import a route to follow as well as finding its own directions.

The trouble is, it's a bit small for using the maps and the routing and navigation method is a bit cumbersome. On top of that, the official maps cost a fortune and finding OpenStreetMaps files to use was a confusing maze to navigate (but I got through it and saved the afore mentioned fortune :) )

Now I'm joining the world of Android I thought I'd see what it could do...

I managed to find several apps that do various combinations of those tasks but none of them seem to do them all. If any of them do everything then they also do a multitude of other things and the write-up in the Play Store doesn't mention it all clearly.

I think my main concern is trying to find something with offline maps with the ability to import a predetermined route, not calculated by the app and clear live data. I don't think I saw anything that stated or showed screenshots of all three. I need to go through all my bookmarked apps again and probably just try them out when my device arrives (hopefully in the next day or two)

If I have to stick with my Garmin then I will, but it would be nice to have more than 2.25" screen to look at
