Root D2G roms, Fission, fusion, etc

Bugly

Android Expert
Seriously, I have been reading that these are available, but all the d/l links are either dead, or they say "coming soon"....
Really? Is there nothing available for the D2G? If not, please STOP saying there is something out there.
Reliable d/l only, if you know of one.

I have d2g running fission 2.4.3 for about 3 weeks now working great . will get brave and try fission 2.5 soon. 2.4 all apps working and all downloads working. I am also using (bloat freezer) working great. have d2g stripped down and getting 300+ memory . Using also Juice Defender and battery staying at 70% after 10 hours of use as a phone and text mess. plus e-mail. wondering if 2.5 will be that good. So Good Luck on yours.

Hey Bill,

Out of curiosity, what did you freeze using bloat freezer. I just got the application and am trying to increase my battery life. The last phone I had was a rooted eris and I could just delete the apps instead of freezing them.

Thanks

As with yesterday and previous days.... There is still NO ROM available for the D2G... Still says "coming soon". Thanks for trying and for posting the link, but its still dead for those with a D2G.

You really need to try harder at these things.

If you follow that link, then go to the top right where it says Fission, then to install instructions and downloads, there is a link to download Fission Rom Manager Lite. Here is the link, in case you can't find it.

From within FRM you can download and install Fission 2.4.3 which is the only version that runs on the D2G. It's been there the whole time.

Couldn't have made it clearer myself, thanks.

My apologies, kind sirs, I was mistaken, apparently since i was not aware that the ROM was available due to the "coming soon" on the list. I really didn't want to waste time downloading yet another dead link, that was all.
If anyone knows somebody on the dev team who could change the "coming soon" part, it would probably have alleviated this whole mess.
TIA

Unfortunately, the Dev team has all but quit working on the D2G ROMs, so that's probably a moot point. They're different enough from the D2 that only a few people really understand how to get them working, and it seems that Angdroid has stopped pushing D2G updates. The latest version of Fission for D2G was promised months ago, and we were strung along for awhile by twitter posts, but nothing ever materialized. Right now the only team working on a new D2G ROM is team Get R Done, and they're showing great promise.

Install Fission 2.4.3 and try it. It's better than stock blur (IMHO) by a long shot, and your battery life can only go up.

That was the original intent all along, the battery life on the stock D2G is abysmal, at best. I have d/loaded the fission ROM and installed it, (spent 45 minutes trying to restore contacts afterward, forgot how, duh...). Seems to be running fine now and hopefully she can make it through a full work day without a charger (she works in what can only be described as a "faraday box"). Will let you know how things go from here.
Thanks again for all the help and for pointing out the dev's website needed to be updated.

If battery life is your goal, I suggest you check out my thread here. It's written specifically for the D2G (though it was before I flashed fission, so some of it isn't applicable, like freezing bloatware). I highly recommend you root and install setCPU, I think that gave my biggest increase in battery life. Also, if your wife's work is truly a faraday cage and she gets no signal, her battery life will increase dramatically if she puts her phone in airplane mode until she needs it. Running with no signal will DRASTICALLY cut these phones' battery life.

Finally, if she can't hack it with the OEM battery (I could get mine up to about 24hrs of light/moderate use), she can always pick up a second battery for about $5 shipped off amazon (They're OEM BP6X batteries, nothing wrong with them), or for about $40-$50 she can get the BP7X battery, which I HIGHLY recommend. It adds almost no thickness to the phone, but the increase in battery life is excellent.

Update:
Wife made it through a full day at work without recharge, battery was low when we got home, but made it through a full work day in the "cage". She works in a hospital kitchen around a LOT of stainless steel tables and walls. It amazes me she can get calls at all in there.
