That question mark mean i belive it doesnt detect your Battery. I THINK

by "d2 bootstrap" do you mean the Droid 2's bootstrap app?

---These links are not Mine!---
1: Download the 5.6.890 SBF file from here:
Download Droid SBF 890 zip

2: Download RSDLite 5.5 HERE (Important you use THIS VERSION)
Download RSDLite5 rar

3: Extract the contents of the SBF file to a folder on your computer

4: Install RSDLite

5: Boot the Droid 3 into bootloader by holding m and powering the phone on

6: Use Volume- to scroll to "AP Fastboot" and press Vol+ to select it

7: Open RSDLite and click the "..." and browse to the .XML file from the extracted SBF file

8: Connect the phone, and when it says "Connected", hit "Start"

9: Wait for the phone to finish flashing, and booting (it will reboot a couple times, leave it alone, its supposed to!)

Good Luck! Worked twice for me!

After you do what bryan said (forgive misspellings) there is a link in the stickied thread in this section with a title along the lines of "ultimate root thread" in there the link for the correct bootstraping app is given. That thread is also great for everything else!

well to my luck . i could not get the phone back up. i did a hard factory reset and whipped every thing clean. and still gets stuck in bootloop. verizon is overnighting me a new d3 . is there a way to make sure this thing is clean befor i send it off. or does the factory reset whip it clean?

I belive the SBF process bryan went through will wipe it clean. I think a facotry reset will wipe it to the point that they can't tell. However, im not sure. You should be safe to return it.

In my opinion, an SBF is the only way to be absolutely sure, although it will not change anything like the radio signatures if you did the tethering hack. But it will put the phones software back to box stock.
