How old is the phone (battery)? I mean I guess regardless of age I myself would just spend $50 for the quick test. Buy a new battery. If battery was having "hold/charge" issues even more so. If the battery is bad which it really could be. This would reslove.

I really lack the kind of info I need to make a good diagnostic but right now it is a bad battery.
