Root Damn it, bricked after oclf

Well, I finally decided to root and oclf.
Used z4 root and all went well, applied oclf and after it re-booted it hangs at the splash screen then just goes blank, sometimes the options return buttons come on but then nothing.
IIRC factory reset is press and hold power, vol up and home key, but whrn I do this it just keeps flashing the galaxy s screen on and off.
Any advice is much apreciated.

so recovery mode doesn't work
try download mode
home + vol down + power , see can you get in there ?

well , there are lots of warnings online about getting the 3 buttons combo to work
if you can't get into download mode or recovery mode , I don't think you can fix it

you can take it back if it's still under warranty [tell 'em that you turned it off and it became like this, don't mention anything about rooting :P] , or look for a way to get into download/recovery mode

sorry , but that's all what I know .. sorry I couldn't be any help :D

Yeah, that's what I did.
Told them the battery went flat and when recharged it bricked at start up.
I used z4 root but it was only temporary and unroots at next start up.
The guy in the shop said it looks like the software has just stopped working:rolleyes: and he'll send it off and see if they can flash the latest firmware to the phone.
Hopefully the root and oclf won't show up.

the problem is only with the root, root voids warranty
but if you can't turn the phone on then don't think that they can, which means no root will be discovered .. hopefully

good luck :D

I did the exact same thing ( have a read of my post on root thread )... took it to Samsung...acted very blonde and female ( this you can only do if you are blonde and female like me )..and said i have no idea why my phone wont work.

Was fixed FOR FREE under warranty within 2 days

.....now i have stuffed it again ;) But I asked them to get the 3BR working on it..so I can keep breaking it to my hearts content ;)

On Kies 2.0 there's a emergency firmware recovery option, wonder if that could help. I know if an upgrade goes bad you can use that option to recover your phone. Not saying it will fix your phone, but maybe its worth trying.

You need to let go of the buttons while attempting to enter recover or download mode. If you keep them pressed down the phone will just keep looping. Once the I9000 screen appears, let go of the buttons.

That's right snapper, I knew there was something but couldn't remember what.
Anyway it's with my carrier at the moment, with any luck it will be sorted, if not I'll be back for more advice on flashing etc.

I did the SAME thing as you did and it seems that the problem was the temporary root.
OCLF needs root for installing, but when your phone rebooted it wasn't rooted anymore, so the OCLF installation couldn't complete.
Next time root it permanently (nevermind, you can un-root later), install OCLF and the phone will be fine.
Anyway, some said that 2.2.1(JPY) doesn't need lagfix anymore, I will check this soon

Yeh I thought that as soon as it happened.
Had a text this morning to say it had been sent off and I should get it back by Friday.
Don't know if my carrier is fixing it or if they've sent it off to Sammy, just have to wait and see.

hey .. that's abusing your appearance >_>

Bad girl.:p
But who can refuse a cute blonde in need of help;)
Got mine back today with
2.2
I9000BUJP5
2.6.32.9
ROOT@SE-S611#1
FROYO.BUJP7

With the phone was a printout of what was wrong and what they did.
Effectively it said software crash so flashed with latest version.
On the back of the printout was a hand written note that said 'I know what happened (I did the same thing) be more careful in future'.
Anyway, everything seems to work, wifi, 3G, swype etc, so now I just have to re-install all my apps (40 odd).
Ran a quadrant test and the results show a doubled CPU from 730 up to 1410 2D is down by 10 and 3D is up by 100.

now you gotta fix the 3 buttons combo to avoid any problems in the future , doing that will allow you to flash the firmware yourself
