Damn widgets.

Hello androidforums.

I just registered, and you were my first choice (even from my country top Helpdesk) to ask for some wisdom on a huge problem I have with my Desire.

(Only users of MildWild could help, I guess.. And I wanted to have an account here - if nobody knows I will contact MildWild)

I wont say much. I have a ridiculous problem with the management of my widgets. All the starter ROM's widgets are in the Widget list just as fine as SOME of my installed apps..

..though ONLY the 1/5 of my apps and user-installed widgets are visible in the list, and I cant have them WIDGETED on my darn wallpaper.

Tried everything and sh_t. No hope.

Thanks in advance, Nio.

Hi Nio Godsent, and welcome to AF :)

I'm not completely sure I understand your problem. You are saying that some of the user apps which you know have widgets don't show up in the "Add Widget" lists? I've tried a few of MildWild's ROMs, and never noticed any problem like this.

Could you perhaps tell us which MildWild ROM you are using and which apps you are having problems with?

Just to be sure, you do know that if you move an app to SD through the phone menu the widgets will stop working (not a Mildwild feature, true on any and all Android ROMs)? You don't need to do this if you have an ext partition on the sd card.

(Also, I'm not ignoring you if I don't reply quickly - I'm travelling for work this week).

Exactly what you said on first paragraph.

Im on MildWild CM 8.0 JG Stable. Android 2.3.7.
Version Number GWK74 MildWild for Desire. (guess that wont help..)

I install the apps on the SD.. maybe that is why. But how widgets would work when you download a clock or weather widget that being installed automatically on SD from Apps2SD+?

I was with the same architecture with my old Rooted Gingerbread Cyanogenmod.

If the apps are installed on the ext partition of your sd they should work fine. Apps that are installed to phone will be moved to the ext partition (by the a2sd+ script or s2sd app) but Android treats this as an extension of internal memory so the apps & widgets behave as they should. The phone thinks they are in phone memory but they are not.

I'm not familiar with your ROM, there may be an option to select a default install location for your apps within settings. Make sure it is set to phone internal.

You simply made it to Mordor brother. Thank god there wasnt an issue with the ROM itself.

It was, indeed, the SD's problem. I transfer to Internal and Widget choices are popping up in an instant.

I wouldnt come up with that myself. You were so fast, I will make another topic with my final 2 issues. If I solve all of them, the I will feel like I got a new smartphone.

Thanks again, pro mobile community.
Regards, Nio.

P.S: I bet many Googlers will be guided in this specific topic, it seems its the first one.
