Dark Mode for AF

I would love to have a dark mode but unfortunately we have way too many things to tackle. Our first priority is bringing fresh new content to the site. That's why you see are now seeing:
We also just released this Chrome Extension:

  • Adds a "Discuss" button to all apps/games pages in Google Chrome
  • If a forum exists for the game it will take you there
  • If a forum does not yet exist it will create one (and take you there)
  • Also posts updates about each app/game when new versions come out
We badly need to makeover the homepage so that people have a reason to come back and visit every single day, but that's a challenge since we have no "news" team and participation has been challenging to foster in a meaningful way.

I will definitely keep it in mind for future development but right now all of our efforts are focused on the front lines of bringing back conversation. I'm all ears if you have recommendations!

If you browser has dark mode or in my case high contrast mode just enable it in the settings. Easy peasy, Japan easy :)
 
@Rob I understand and knew that it was likely off the back burner. I had to throw it out there, though.

Not sure if you have thought about opening "news" submissions to Android "citizen journalists" - ie, those of us who have been around a long time and are generally adept at corroborating stories before submitting them as factual. You see? I'm full of ideas!

(And Rob thinks "yeah, he's full of something...")

..yes, and also apparently you are the one who took away the numeric rank..very pointless move..no reason what so ever..not purpose at all.
 
I see you almost every day uploading so much junk that not even a 5 year old spends two minutes on..yet here you are always ignoring the questioning about the numeric rank..

That's more important than all that meaningless topics you get "busy" with..

Actually, why any of you settle for being the last of the last of the last priority?, you are selling your self very inexpensive..like you don't know your worth..he should give you a priority..first because is not just two or three people asking for..yet he still chooses to let you know any of your priorities are the last on his thoughts(that's messed up..and it is sad too)..he should've put his ass on that long time ago..if he is short on hands..then ask for help..so all what you are asking for would've have been done long time ago instead giving you the bitting around the bunches..

I think we all are entitle to our opinion..as long as it makes us grow as a whole..HE is the one staying behind.

The problem radics in you all talk to him line he is a god..NO he ain't..he is just the guy who happens to administrate the forum..that's that.

He and some one else is the people making money thanks to all our efforts in here..he isn't sharing any of his revenues with any of you, is him???..and trust, he is making some good money out of all those ads that the forum is disgustingly filled with..not question about it..and all of that thanks to your all and mine efforts..so realisticallY he needs you all..not the other way around.

I don't want to pick apart your post line by line. The owners priorities are centered around content, because content attracts users, users view ads, and ads pay for hosting, software licensing, security certificates, and probably a whole lot of other things I don't know about. Anyone that's been here since the hayday knows that traffic isn't what it used to be, and I'm sure margins are way thinner than they used to be. Paying a developer may not be prudent right now if the revenue doesn't support it. I'm not sure how much revenue is generated with 22 viewers.

@Xavier Black you lost all credibility with me in your first diatribe, accusing ME of single-handedly taking down the numeric rankings. Is there another Chief in here with Admin status? I fondly recall my time at AF as a Moderator - but Mods don't have the ability to make such changes to the site. At least we didn't when I had the badge. So I didn't bother with the rest of it. Hopefully @Unforgiven found it worthwhile.

Then I apologize: your post was directly after mine, so it follows that my post was the one to which you referred. If you want to talk with the "one so call" Rob (aka "he owns the site"), then I hope you will address him specifically in future posts, as I am easily confused. Thank you!

Whoa! Calm down. :)

I'm not happy either that the ranks were removed--and was very vocal about it for awhile. But demanding AF's owner, @Rob, to put them back probably isn't the best way to make it happen.

Back in its heyday, when we had so much activity we [I was on the staff then] could barely keep up, AF was a very different place. Much has changed since then, including the departure of key staff members, and Rob is the only one who can determine what's most crucial right now. We don't have to like that--I certainly don't! the removal of rankings still really bugs me, and I DESPISE the bold, black text thread titles now have--but we do have to respect it.

So take a few deep breaths and post, thoughtfully, any ideas, requests or suggestions you may have. I'm not saying they'll be implemented right away--mine haven't been--but at least they'll be out there for when Rob gets to them.
 
You're using your phone, which is great... but I'm using the desktop. There is an extension to force bright sites to dark mode, but I found it to be a disaster and disabled it.
