Help Data connection issue

Zhorian

Lurker
Hi,

I'm having some issues with the internet on my galaxy s3. It seems even if I've got full bars and H+ browser often fails to load the page.

I'm also having major problems with the facebook app, it'll open but it gets stuck on the connection screen then fail with the connection lost page again with full bars and H+.

This issue doesn't seem to occur when I'm using my WiFi and my supplier is orange.

Please someone help as this is bugging the hell out of me!

Cheers,

Z

I'm also getting server errors on the play store : (

I should also mention I've tried clearing facebooks cache and re installing it with no joy

Hi Zhorian,

I'm on Orange and have been experiencing the exact same issues. Wi-Fi appears faultless but without a Wi-Fi connection, even with a full signal strength and the H or H+ symbol, I'm often unable to load pages.

Facebook is the most obvious. The Facebook app is, quite literally, unusable. I can't load pages full stop. Connection Lost is the normal error. I've tried using the mobile version of the website as well but this fails. I've had a number of errors but the most frequent by far is 'A secure connection could not be established'. When the page does load, I then seem to lose any HTML formatting and pictures are not displayed.

The fault is not specific to the FB application or website though. I have faults using the Natwest application, downloading from the Play Store, viewing posts on BaconReader or images on Imgur.com.

I just need to establish if the fault is with Orange or the phone. As far as I can recall, it's always been a problem since I received the phone on it's day of release.

Thanks,

Rich

Hi again Zhorian (and anybody else with this same problem).

This issue has now been resolved for me. I called Orange Technical Support and they helped me troubleshoot the problem.

It turns out it's a Wireless & Networks setting that needs to be changed. Follow these steps:

- On your SGS3, navigate to Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks.
- Click on Access Point Names.

With me, there were three entries, Orange UK Internet, Orange UK WAP and Orange UK MMS.

- Press the Menu button and then select 'Reset to default'.
- It should remove the WAP entry and then select Orange UK Internet. If it doesn't select Orange UK Internet automatically, then select it manually.

That should be it! Have a go browsing the Facebook app or a site that requires a secure connection.

The guy I spoke to from Orange suggested that it could be down to Orange SafeGuard or the content that the APN is allowed to send across the network.

I hope that works for you!

Rich.
