To begin, I am completely new to forums, but they are a very good source of information so I have heard.
Here's The Issue:
I bought a Windows Phone 7 Nokia Lumia 800, using a T-Mobile UK sim with Unlimited Data. The phone had great connection and used 3G fine. However, due to the lack of apps on the Windows Phone 7 OS, I exchanged the device for a HTC Sensation XE, of which had to be unlocked to use the Sim.
After it was unlocked, I noticed it did not pick up the 3G signal it had in my house on the Windows Phone. This did not worry me at first. I checked the APN settings and they were all there, as the phone seemed to automatically pull them from the SIM card. (Sorry if that's incorrect phrasing.)
I have now had the phone a week, going around my local area, and it rarely gets 3G. Edge is completely hopeless on the device, and I average a 178kbp/s with a ping of around 320m/s.
However, when the device does get onto 3G the speed is very good and browsing and YouTube work in a flash. But sadly, this is rare.
I have tried a lot of utilities and methods, such as trying the LTE fast.tmobile.com apn (which did nothing) and the EE Apn.
I also used two network boosting utilities from the Play Store. (If you wish to see and try these boosters for yourself they are the 2 most top rated results under the search term "Network Booster")
I have tried re-entering the APN settings, which also did not work. I cannot update the preferred roaming list as I live in the UK. (No Sprint Network or whatever.)
But after all of this, the elusive 3G signal still evades me.
I would be extremely grateful for any information, help, guides, etc in response to this topic.
Also, I am extremely sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, as previously stated, I am new to forums.
Happy Replying
