How often does this thing fetch data like email and calendar updates? I was used to having the ability to chose how often and I can't find that on this phone.

Good question! I found it in the regular email app, and a few others under settings but can't find it in gmail

Gmail is a push email system, so there isn't a polling interval. Whenever email is sent to your gmail account, it arrives almost immediately.
