Help Data file transfer

mikejkay

Newbie
I have just bought a Note 8 LTE and have made a fresh installation of most of the apps that were on my old Note 1. However, there were some apps (fuel consumption and weight record) that had records. Is there any way of finding these data files and transferring them to my new device or do I have to manually copy all the data? I read somewhere about "bumping" the two phones which somehow allowed file transfers. Can't find the article now.

I have swapped my SIM card with no problems and the SD card in my Note 8 is a new one so I still have the old external SD card in my Note 1. If necessary I can delete the new apps from my Note 8 and transfer the old apps if this would mean transferring the data as well.

Bumping will swap files, but you have to know which ones.

I didn't write the apps you mentioned, but if I had I would have kept the records in the phone's database. The best way to transfer them would be if the author wrote a "backup data/restore data" app or function in the app, to allow you to transfer the records. Playing around in a SQLite database, when you have no idea what the data you're looking for looks like isn't easy. (I've done it, but my 401k plans show it.)
