Here's approx what we use, 1400 minute family plan w/friends and family,
My "X", .5 to .7 GB's/ month. 200 texts, surf web, ( what actor was in some movie, biographies, stock prices and news, etc.) and about 200 voice minutes.
My wifes iPhone, .6 to .8GB's/month, 300 texts, surf web, (lots of facebook) and about 200 voice minutes.
My daughters iPhone, .9 to 1.1GB's/month. 1000 texts, web, (lots of facebook and research for college classes) and about 200 voice minutes.
Due to our having 3 smartphones and relative small amount of data usage, we can possibly save about $9 with the new shared data plans.
Our current plan:
1400 family plan w/friends & family. $110 - 26% corp discount = $81.40
2 additional phones. 2 x $9.99 ......................................... = $19.98
3 data packages at $29.99 ea. -20% corp disc ($6) ............ = $84.00
..................................................................................... ______
.................................................................................... $185.38
New Shared data plan:
Unlimited Voice/text access (3 Phones) $40 + $40 +$40 ...... = $120.00
4 GB shared data (- 20% corp disc) $70 - $14 .................... = $56.00
..................................................................................... ______
.................................................................................... $176.00
Now we also have additional features like visual voicemail, ringback tones, and don't forget taxes and fees, but these are pretty much a wash for the two plans. Just fyi, last month our total wireless bill was $217.53.
Also, all our phones now are 3G phones and when we upgrade (most likely sometime this year) to 4G phones, our data usage may rise, but even then I think we could get by with the 6GB data bucket. This would raise our data cost to $64, ($80 - $16) and would subsequently raise our total bill by $8 which would bring our total wireless bill to within pennies of our current bill.
There is something to be said for the peace of mind that comes with unlimited data, but we've decided to just "roll with the flow" and not raise our stress level over a few bucks. The talk that Verizon will notify via text and/or email when approaching your data limit will of course help.
I remain, paitently/impatiently waiting for Maxx HD info. (Official or rumor)
Best of luck to all of us,
