Data - How much do you use, for what?

Hey all, with all the data talk I thought it might be neat to start a thread like this;

I'm at 1.6GB, with a date of the 26tb.

primarily streaming Pandora One,a bit under 2 hours a day on work days.

Have a Thunder Bolt in a 4G area

Here's approx what we use, 1400 minute family plan w/friends and family,

My "X", .5 to .7 GB's/ month. 200 texts, surf web, ( what actor was in some movie, biographies, stock prices and news, etc.) and about 200 voice minutes.

My wifes iPhone, .6 to .8GB's/month, 300 texts, surf web, (lots of facebook) and about 200 voice minutes.

My daughters iPhone, .9 to 1.1GB's/month. 1000 texts, web, (lots of facebook and research for college classes) and about 200 voice minutes.

Due to our having 3 smartphones and relative small amount of data usage, we can possibly save about $9 with the new shared data plans.

Our current plan:
1400 family plan w/friends & family. $110 - 26% corp discount = $81.40
2 additional phones. 2 x $9.99 ......................................... = $19.98
3 data packages at $29.99 ea. -20% corp disc ($6) ............ = $84.00
..................................................................................... ______
.................................................................................... $185.38

New Shared data plan:
Unlimited Voice/text access (3 Phones) $40 + $40 +$40 ...... = $120.00
4 GB shared data (- 20% corp disc) $70 - $14 .................... = $56.00
..................................................................................... ______
.................................................................................... $176.00

Now we also have additional features like visual voicemail, ringback tones, and don't forget taxes and fees, but these are pretty much a wash for the two plans. Just fyi, last month our total wireless bill was $217.53.

Also, all our phones now are 3G phones and when we upgrade (most likely sometime this year) to 4G phones, our data usage may rise, but even then I think we could get by with the 6GB data bucket. This would raise our data cost to $64, ($80 - $16) and would subsequently raise our total bill by $8 which would bring our total wireless bill to within pennies of our current bill.

There is something to be said for the peace of mind that comes with unlimited data, but we've decided to just "roll with the flow" and not raise our stress level over a few bucks. The talk that Verizon will notify via text and/or email when approaching your data limit will of course help.

I remain, paitently/impatiently waiting for Maxx HD info. (Official or rumor)

Best of luck to all of us,

Droid X 2-4 gigs a month streaming music , android games, and browsing. Also app updating. I imagine ill hit 8-10 on 4g due to speed difference

DROID RAZR MAXX - 5-10 gb a month. I use Spotify, FoxFi, Facebook, Instagram, email, and school work.

Droid Bionic 10 to 25 gigs a month. Ligit music downloads (Dj mixes over an hour in length and top bit rate quality), movie streaming, web, email, music streaming (Pandora, di.fm, sky fm and an internet radio app) and I have the HD dock that has replaced my home computer.

4 GB / month with moderate browsing, lots of navigation, occasional netflix, email, photo sharing and uploading, and pandora.

My wife uses about 2 GB. She pretty much just does email, facebook, and photo sharing.

She doesn't use it for music or video at all but still manages 2 GB a month which I guess vzw considers heavy use.

Ranging from 5-10GB on unlimited data. I deliberately don't use my WiFi at home on my phone since LTE is faster than FiOS.

Its not necessarily higher than my personal wired connection, however its upload speed is most definitely higher if I have a strong signal.

I consistently use about 6-8 gb per month. I use Pandora during pretty much ALL driving, and often at work through earbuds (3-7 hours per day at work when I do), facebook, instagram, web, email, normal smartphone stuff. My use hasn't significantly increased when went from my OG Droid to a Rezound in January, got my Maxx last month (a couple weeks before the deadline), and continue the same things. 3G and 4G only matters if you start doing things you couldn't before, and I don't do that a lot.

I get about 25mbps down and 15 up at home with my fios, and LTE is about 15-30 mbps down, but only about 6-10 up, so due to a more stable signal, battery savings, and faster upload speeds, I use my wifi.

However, I agree with a strong signal, LTE beats fios. I've gotten 57 mbps in Ft. Worth Texas this last January, and over 35 here before. Upload hasn't gone over 15 though.
