Data network info

Hey all.

I have a question I am having a very hard time googling involving 3g and 4g data types. So...

The issue I am having is that I am currently on sprint, and would like to stick with sprint because I use my phone for netflix so I need unlimited data. However, my service is very poor. I did a speed test today and I get .3 mbps on 3g EVDO. It is "supposedly" a 4g wiimax area but I dont get it there. I have the HTC evo 4g (original).

Now my question is this: If I upgrade to an LG optimus G, which now supports HSPA, will I get better service/faster data speeds? Or is this only true in certain situations/areas?

I understand that HSPA is faster than EVDO, but what I dont understand is how they are implemented. As in, do certain towers emit EVDO data, and others emit HPSA signals?

Hope this isnt too confusing. Thanks for any help.

Sprint does not use HSPA. Since you have poor service anyway, if you want to keep unlimited data you might consider going to T-Mobile. They have true unlimited data plans like Sprint and for less money. T-Mobile uses HSPA+ 4G which is very quick. Get a new Nexus 4 from Google and cheap unlimited data on T-Mobile's fast network and you can laugh at fools still on Sprint.

For T-Mobile it just really depends on where your at. i know here in Mid-Michigan T-Mobile ONLY has 3G... so i would make sure before you go to tmo (if thats what you decide to do) that your in a 4g area.

I agree. First look at the coverage of different providers FOR WHERE YOU LIVE, not for someone else on the Internet. No provider has perfect coverage everywhere.
