Data on Fido

I signed up with a Data Flex plan on Fido yesterday and I am able to connect but I am confused on 2 things.

In my settings/Wireless & Networks under mobile internet with the check mark is says connection failed, then changes to connecting then says connected then goes back to connection failed, it does this for I think 2 loops then it says connected. But the whole time I do have internet access.

Also on the top bar it seems to start saying 3G then changes to an "H" with up and down arrows and that jumps back and forth then stay on 3G. What is "H"

I am new to data plans so I am confused on this can any one help me fill in the blanks as to what might be happening?

I am using the APN settings from here Click Here and since I am getting internet on my phone I am confused if these above issues are problems or this is just how mobile phones connect.
