I wonder if we should ask a mod about adding this download mode method, or some kind of consolidated "unbricking guide" to a sticky in the root forum :D . There are quite a few people who run into this soft-bricking problem! With all of the ICS related threads going on, the unbrick methods are getting pushed further down the list, PLUS you have to dig around the posts for a bit to find it. Just a thought!

i didnt realize you can force it into download mode so im gonna try that right now.
it probably doesn't mean anything but bout 6hous before Metro sentvme a text saying" I'm in the top 5 percent of data usage in the nation and to please use wifi"

Damn LOL you must use your phone a lot :D I certainly hope that msg is a fluke!

If the DL mode process works, you may have a problem rooting your phone again, as this has been a recent issue with Connect users, myself included...

Just make sure before you run root exploit, using mtMichaelson's Connect exploit, or the LG Spectrum exploit, which works too, (I think it's shabbypenguin's exploit kit) that, on your phone:

USB debugging is enabled- under menu> settings> applications> development

Connect your phone to your PC, click on USB settings in the pull-down notification bar and click on 'Internet Connection' - must be set as default for root!

UNCHECK the 'Always Ask' <-- THIS IS IMPORTANT! Root process will abort or freeze up if left checked!! Click "Done"

RUN THE ROOT!! See if that does it! If not, power cycle your phone, double check USB settings and try again!

I think the new ZVA upgrade changed the USB settings around so that it's a default 'Mass storage' mode upon power-up, causing the root to fail. This is the last known rooting issue I had with my Connect and ZVA, so I hope this works for you.
