Data security

Hi all,
I am not yet an Android phone user but I am thinking about it. I currently have a Palm phone and I have used palm os for several years. What I appreciated with palm is the good data security level, for example some records can be hidden and opened only by entering a password. Is that kind of functions available on android phones?
Thanks in advance

Its available via the use of an app, you'll find android is capable of pretty much anything via its app collection.

I'm also a former Palm user. I found an app called SplashID in the Android Market that encrypts data with a password. It also has a desktop component that allows you to synch your SplashID data between the phone and computer via WiFi.
