Data transfer not happening

When you indicate no data transfer, what specifically do you mean? Email? Access to web servers through the web browser? Access to data through a downloaded app?
If you go to App Drawer -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks, does it show you as being connected to the wireless network. This may sound like a dumb question but does the network SSID (name) sound like the proper name for your office?
Next click on the network SSID in the list under the title "WiFi Networks" it should display a dialog box with the network SSID, the connection status, security type, etc. displayed along with asking whether or not you want to forget this network. At the bottom of the list is an IP address field. Does the address field contain what looks to be a valid IP address?
