Data Usage - 3G and WiFi

With my current plan, I've been given 1 GB of data per month. Now, my question is, do I only use up some of that 1GB while I'm using the 3G, or does it also get counted when I use on WiFi connection? I really don't want to go over my limit..

A tiny, miniscule amount will get used whilst on WiFi, but we're talking KB's so it's nothing to worry about.

Look at an app like 3G Watchdog or Netcounter to keep tabs on usage.

My plan limits me to 500MB a month, but I use WiFi most of the time and only use 3G when I need it and it does me fine. If you're sensible, 1GB should be ample.

You can also disable your mobile internet connection when WiFi is available, by going to the settings or with some of the inbuilt widgets. That way you can be sure nothing is being used up.

I always have 3G and WiFi turned off, unless I'm needing to use the internet, so there shouldn't be any usage unless I receive a picture message, right?

I'm presuming that's because of WiFi being put to sleep or something like that.

Yeah, that's right.

Hmm, I never get any of my mobile data plan being used up when WIFI is being used... but I always turn off my data before I turn on WIFI, so thats maybe why.

One question, why are UK mobile operators (not 3) so stingy on data. 500MB/1GB is nothing man... Come on operators/government and free more space before 2014 (I am in the UK by the way).
