Hi, not sure if I'm in the right bit or not but anyway.......
Recently upgraded from Galaxy S3 to S6 and seem to be using quite a lot more data than I used to. I'm still using the same apps (give or take any that come as standard with the phone that I'm not really using). Chrome seems worst (I know what you're looking at can vary a lot but I'm generally still looking at the same stuff) so any ideas why I'm eating so much data.
Thanks

Whenever you get a new phone go straight into account settings, Google and check out the sync settings as by default Google will be syncing just about everything! Turn off what you don't need.

Next go back into the settings and check Data Usage and see what apps are using the most data, then hit the apps settings to see how you can reduce their usage. You can also turn off background data on any offending app, bare in mind that this will cause apps to not update in the background.

I've checked everything I can think of. If I don't use phone, data is ok so it's not a background problem. Chrome seems to be the culprit, but it's hardly using any background data, it's only when I go on the internet through Chrome that it seems to use more data than it did on my old phone. Could it be a virus (using AVG and malwarebytes and both show ok)?
Thanks

Chrome sometimes needs to be hard reset. I've done this a few times on my wife's P8 due to high data usage.

Go into settings, apps and clear all of Chrome's data, force stop and then uninstall all updates/uninstall the app itself if you can. Restart your phone and now reinstall or reapply Chrome's updates and hopefully this will resolve the issues.

Do you use Chrome's sync options? If so check how often it's syncing.

Tried all suggestions above (apart from complete Chrome uninstall - not an available option), tested by looking on these forums (10 pages of looking through the lists of posts, not actually reading any posts) and it's used up 17Mb - rarely used that in a day. All I can think of now is a factory reset, my anti virus and malwarebytes still say there's nothing wrong and I'm not signed in on Chrome so it's not a synch problem. I checked my usage before opening Chrome and immediately after so it's 100% live usage.
Thanks

Forgot to say. Previously got popups warning of a virus that would infect Google apps and asking me to download an app that would sort the problem out. I could only get rid of popup by turning phone off - I didn't download the suggested app and cleared all my Chrome data and restarted my phone, but can't remember if I had this data problem before - it's a new phone so not used much before that.
Thanks
