Date and time wrong

What is the android correct way to set the date and time other than manually? I have looked into the "Date & Time" settings and tried the "Automatic date and time" and "automatic time zone" but it does not seem to work, doesn't the network transmit date, time and timezone settings? Thanks
 
in some networks it takes time to update for the first time., just be patient and it will be ok.

or tick automatic time set
& manually set your time zone.
 
It shows date 1 June 2012 and time 02:11 as I am typing this. it's been on for at least 40 ins and i have powered it off and on. Unless I enter the date and time and timezone manually I believe it will not get it right. My provider is vodafone UK.
